One of the most precious aspects of bringing Liam home is watching Ryan with our little sweetheart. It's true, I have fallen more deeply in love with Ryan over these last several weeks. I have dubbed his "the baby whisperer." Ryan has amazing soothing abilities. He can calm Liam down during the times he is crying, yet not still fully awake. Our nighttime routine has bee pretty amazing from the get-go. When Liam does wake up, Ryan gets him, changes him, swaddles him, and brings him to me to eat. This allows me a solid three extra minutes to wake up fully and arrange the pillows for feeding, Those three minutes are precious. Over Thanksgiving I was apart from Ryan for several nights, and I totally felt the difference in the morning. When we are all together, Liam only wakes up once or twice a night, which allows me enough sleep so I feel refreshed in the morning...no zombie sleep deprived mommy for Liam! Over the past several weeks I have vastly cut down on caffeine(diet coke is now reserved for celebrations and coffee is put aside for social girlfriend times), so I feel very blessed to have a good sleeper. Since he does sleep at night, Liam is mostly awake during the day. I love it! He has the sweetest little voice and his smiles melt my heart. He will randomly cat-nap throughout the day, and I always indulge in holding him during one of his snoozes, I know holding a napping baby is sometimes frowned upon, but my one nap splurge has yet to negatively affect his ability to also nod off in his car seat, stroller, swing, vibrating seat, or crib. So until it does, I will be enjoying the sweet smell of my baby's hair and the noise of his sleeping baby breaths.
