Day four found us exploring an old castle. I love seeing places like this that are left untouched by man.
It was atop the hillside, so not only was the castle beautiful, but the views of the island were stunning.
Everyone went down to the well except from Liam and me. I was not trusting the slippery stairs.
There were tons of vending machines around the island. Kyle made it his personal mission to try a new drink every time.
A big part of our trip was keeping Liam happy in the car. We were not always successful, as Liam is NOT a fan of his car seat.
Next, we headed over to the underground tunnels that the Japanese dug during WWII. It was very interesting, but quite depressing at the same time. Lot of people died down there.
Following the trip to the tunnels, we visited a glass factory. The results are beautiful, but the labor looked intensive.
Lastly, we visited the Peace Memorial. It was the site of the only battle on Japanese land. They had the names of all the Japanese, American, and British soldiers that died during the battle of Okinawa.
The Americans won the battle, and many women and children chose to commit suicide by jumping off the cliffs. The memorial is built on the suicide cliffs. It was quite depressing.
Making our way back to the base, we stopped at a Japanese Steakhouse.

Loving all the Japan pics, what a fun adventure! I love that you enjoy the company of your in-laws so much, too. :)
My In-Laws are the best! I would choose them as friends even if we weren't related.
