Japan, Day One

Step one to traveling to Japan was the 14 hour leg from DC to Tokyo. I was a bit nervous about how Liam would do on the plane, but those worries were useless. Liam was a ROCKSTAR! A huge percentage of this was due to the fact that I could breastfeed him on demand. Unlike the car, there was no "need to try to sooth him while we found someplace safe to pull over." My hooter hider got quite the workout. A huge bonus was that fact that we had bulkhead seats. ANA (the exceptional Japanese airline that we flew), has multiple bulkhead seats throughout coach. With those seats, we were given a mini baby bed for Liam, which also doubled as a changing station.

We all arrive with plenty of time to spare. Liam enjoyed checking out the plane, and I enjoyed some lovely Starbucks pre-flight. Going back to how wonderful ANA was, while we were waiting to board, the crew of flight attendants showed up. I use the word crew because there were at least eighteen attendants on our flight....hence the exceptional service.
Liam enjoyed his bed even while awake. At eight weeks old he quite enjoyed staring at the lights on the plane. Oh how I love our happy baby.

Having three extra loving sets of hands on board was quite the perk as well.
Once we got to Tokyo, we made our way to our next flight. It was a three hour leg to the island of Okinawa. Can you tell how happy we are to stretch our legs?!?

 My wonderful men.

Liam was quite excited to get to our final destination.
We made our way to the hotel on base, where we later met up with the West Coast portion of our family. As for sleeping that night, Liam slept, but only on my chest. In the morning we had a refreshed baby, and a completely sleep deprived mom...so no critical judging the photos from day two!
